Scheurenbrand Archtop Intro

Video Posted on Updated on

Here’s a brief story of how I came to have this archtop. The site for the luthier, a friend of mine, is here: http://koaguitars.com/ and pictures of it as it was built (and pictures of me at 18 with hair!) can be seen here: http://fradale.net/La_Dolce_Vita/Hobbies_N_Cats/Pages/Guitars.html

Wow! That series of pics is of the green-with-jealousy inducing variety: nice! Great to consider the lives our guitars had before they were cut down, sanded, soaked and stained… to be able to see how this beauty came together is an excellent piece of personal heritage to have. Glad we get to share in it!

That’s great! I’d love to go through that process someday. From a tree to an instrument. Wicked.

It really is a journey; gotta say, though, that it makes not being an epic player sting!

Great story and great looking guitar. I am curious though, if you were going to design a new one today, what would you change? What would you keep?

I wouldn’t change anything, I think. Sometimes I think I should have had a pickup installed but I never play amplified, and if I really want one I can have one under the floating pickguard quite easily. Other than that, I would do this exactly as it is.
