This week, we had a lot of freedom. The class essentially got to work on assignments ranging from text, pictures, videos, and even live performances. So this week Aura and the Rubs decided to play the song “Little Talks” by Of Monsters & Men. It was quite a simple song to learn on guitar, considering that it was Am F C G for the entire song. It was a super cool performance because we had Clayton to incorporate his accordion skills! It really helped stay truer to the original. As a side project from The Rubs, Clayton Dakota and myself decided to play “Fix You” by Coldplay. It was quite the spur of the moment thing. We decided 10 minutes before showtime and pulled up the chords and learned it the best we could. Clayton took to the piano and backing vocals, Dakota pulled out his percussive skills, and I played guitar and sang. Overall I thought that the performance sounded really good, considering the last minute decision. I actually found it more fun than preparing for days on a performance. I hope to do more spur of the moment performances in this class!
